The trauma that all of these things that she had thought she had lost will not be so easily forgotten, I think. When she finds the rest of her team, then she will also know that her found family is not gone. Once she finds Jaune, she will at least be able to find out that Winter made it through the portal. She will think that her entire team is dead alongside most of Atlas. She will not know that her father is actually dead. When Weiss wakes up on the island, she will not know if her family is dead or alive. Both of the personal demons that she had tried to overcome (the SDC and her father) are now gone without her having a chance to do anything about. The last thing she saw before falling into darkness was her sister, now the Winter Maiden (thus making her Cinder's next target) reaching out to her in despair. Her teammates were "killed" in front of her eyes one by one. Her family company and her entire home country had to be abandoned and left to be destroyed. She even was able to show mercy to her father and allow him to come with them through the portal.Īnd now, all that was taken away from her. In Atlas, Weiss was forced to confront her family and was able to start to mend the broken relationships within it. Weiss' entire storyline in Volumes 1-4 was about reclaiming her fathers company and restoring it into a force for good like it originally started as.Īfter her heiress status was taken away by her father, Weiss' storyline became escaping her father's grasp and doing good however she could, which morphed into the war against Salem. However, as much as the effect Atlas' fall will have on all the characters, only one character will have to deal with the loss of their home. The other characters stories should revolve around Ruby as well, specifically how they react to their primary source of inspiration (Ruby) pushing them away and falling into her own downwards spiral.įor Yang and Blake, I think that Ruby's refusal to let either of them in will be what finally pushes Yang to openly talk to Blake and solidify their relationship.įor Jaune and Weiss, both of them might be either pushed away or actively blamed for Penny's death (definitely Jaune), and the fact that Jaune did it will haunt him for the volume. Ruby will (hopefully) be the focus of the volume, as her mental state following the events in Atlas - and really everything since Beacon - finally become too much for her to bury down inside herself. Additionally, the events of V8 are sure to give each character their own character drama. With all that extra screentime, we are bound to get plenty of juicy character interactions. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Jaune, Yang, + Neo will be the main focus for the 10 or so episodes that this shorter "detour" volume lasts, with the Vacuo crew likely appearing solely in the first or last episode. In this next coming volume, the cast will be smaller than it has ever been, even including the first volume. Hide Spoilers Blur Spoilers Show Spoilers Try /r/fnki, the /r/RWBY meme sub, instead.
